Cascade Virtual Academy Launches Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Cascade Virtual Academy (CVA) is helping students explore their career options in the trades with a hands-on pre-apprenticeship program! If your student is interested in a trade career, learn how the pre-apprenticeship program can help them prepare for a bright future and keep them one step ahead of the competition for apprenticeship opportunities.
Program Overview
Our pre-apprenticeship program teaches students fundamental trade skills, onsite safety, math and measurement, hand and power tool operation, and construction drawings.
A construction teacher teaches the academic portion of the class, and a Central Oregon Community College (COCC) instructor teaches the in-person training in a mobile equipment trailer. Each trailer is equipped with the necessary tools for students to complete their hands-on training.
Upon completing the pre-apprenticeship program, students can prepare to enter the workforce or apply for formal construction apprenticeship programs in heavy equipment operations, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and more.
The Benefit Behind a Pre-Apprenticeship
CVA’s pre-apprenticeship program gives students a competitive edge when applying to construction apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship programs are one of the best pathways into well-paying, in-demand jobs in the construction industry.
Apprentice programs consist of two to five years of supervised, on-the-job experience in the chosen trade, with 90% on-the-job and 10% classroom training. Students who complete a formal apprenticeship program gain paid job experience, earn a nationally recognized industry credential and can enter the workforce without student loan debt.
